Worlds, Wants and Works

Data Analysis

This analysis examines how podcast guests shift their language when discussing their own work versus other topics. Each utterance from cross-speaker podcast appearances is labeled for three linguistic dimensions:

Imaginative (counterfactuals, hypotheticals, future projections), Emotive (feelings, value judgments, arousal markers), and Egocentric (self-referential, personal stakes, identity statements).

The tables below compare label frequencies between "own work" and "not own work" utterances, with statistical tests accounting for speaker-level clustering. Significant results (p < 0.05) are shown in bold.
